With great pleasure, the Theatermachine provided the lighting design and implementation for the new exhibition ‘Chapter 4OUR: Abundance‘ in HEM Museum Zaandam. The exhibition is curated by writer, performer and activist Simon(e) Van Saarloos.
‘Abundance’ rejects our current reality constructed from scarcity thinking. What if everything is allowed to be there and matters, with no proof of utility, purpose, distinction, hierarchy, priority or profit? That is abundance.
The exhibition takes place on the top floor of HEM Museum Zaandam with an enormous amount of daylight. HEM’s opening hours are from 12 noon to 12 midnight. With exhibition lighting we have taken into account the transition from day to evening. Vertical strips of light cut through space and give texture and color to the semi transparent painted curtains dividing the space in layers. The artworks are lit with white light sources. Transition from day to night lighting is smooth thanks to preprogrammed lighting sequences.
Abundance is on show from 5 June 2021 to 1 November 2021 in HEM Museum Zaandam.
